Beta club joins Halloween festivities

Halloween is an exciting day for adults and kids alike. Dressing up, doing fun make-up, and showing off costumes, all while getting free candy is what makes Halloween such a great day. The Starmount High School Beta Club was happy to take part in making this day special for the town of Yadkinville.

In downtown Yadkinville at the Yadkin Arts Council, many organizations set up a station to hand out candy and represent their organization in a positive way to the community. “Let Us Lead By Serving Others” is the National Beta Club motto, so Starmount’s Beta club helped to serve the community of Yadkinville on Halloween night by providing free candy and their time to make a safe place for children to trick-or-treat with their families. While some club members may not have been able to physically attend the candy distribution on Halloween night, they still contributed to the community service project by donating the candy that was to be given out.

There were many types of creative costumes being shown off, from scary clowns to Elsa. Due to the elections being after Halloween, lots of people shed a humorous light on the serious situation America was facing at the time by dressing up as the presidential candidates. There were also adorable family costumes, such as a two parents who dressed as Starbucks baristas with their child as the latte.

Members of the Beta Club helped to provide an outlet for the community to safely show off their fun and creative Halloween costumes. In addition to providing a safe creative outlet, the Beta Club also helped create a safe place for children to carry on the tradition of trick-or-treating; this is just one of the ways Starmount’s Beta Club is serving its community.
